Tortoise and the Hare

Objective: Students will become familiar with the habit language and will learn what the goal is.

Questions: Have you ever wanted to get something or wanted to get someplace and knew you had to work very hard to get there?

We discussed goals and how you need them to get something we really want.

We talked about how a goal is something that we want to accomplish.

Story used: DLTK's Educational Activities:  Fables
The Hare and the Tortoise

Discussion questions:

  • What was the end in mind for both the Tortoise and the hare? What was their goal?
  • Which of the two characters started the race with the end in mind?
  • Who got distracted and lost focus of their goal?

Added items: We discussed how Harriet the Hare became distracted not only from falling asleep but from bullying and trying to rob Timothy the Tortoise of the joy of winning.
